2023 FALL TRAINING CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

The 2023 MAVTI Fall Training Conference was held on 10/5/23 in Dearborn, MI. We had a large group of law enforcement officers, insurance investigators, and state regulatory investigators attend. The conference focused on modern methods of vehicle theft, best practices for patrol officer's theft investigations and interviews, and vehicle manufacturer anti-theft updates from Stellantis and General Motors representatives.

The first ever Douglas M. McCallister Achievement Award was presented to Michigan State Police (MSP) Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division Officer Daryl Myers. Ofc. Myers over the course of thirty-two months of patrol duty recovered 62 stolen vehicles across the mid-Michigan area. Truly outstanding patrol work by Ofc. Myers, congratulations on being the first recipient of this prestigious award.  The award was presented by retired MSP auto theft Detective Sergeant Doug McCallister, a co-founder of MAVTI, and the MAVTI Training Coordinator from 2000-2010.

Big thanks to all of the members of the MAVTI board of directors for making this years conference a successful one, we look forward to working with the newly elected incoming MAVTI board for next years training conference. The new MAVTI board of directors are featured on the MAVTI Board Members page within this website.
