The Michigan Association of Vehicle Theft Investigators (MAVTI) is a registered 501c3 organization that was founded on January 1st, 2000.
MAVTI members are persons employed as duly authorized law enforcement officers on a full time basis by any federal, state, or municipal subdivision, agents of the National Insurance Crime Bureau, insurance representatives, vehicle manufacturers, or any other agency or organization which has a substantial interest in the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of vehicle theft and its related crimes.
To organize a statewide association of individuals committed to the detection, investigation, prosecution, and suppression of vehicle theft and its related crimes in Michigan communities; and to provide free in-state training to police officers and SIU investigators in all facets of vehicle theft including identification, investigation, and current theft trends.
The MAVTI Fall Training Conference is scheduled for November 12th, 2025 in Dearborn, Michigan at the Ford Theater of Performing Arts.

The 2025 MAVTI annual training conference is scheduled for November 12th, 2025 in Dearborn, Michigan. We have several sponsorship opportunities available toward supporting the 2025 conference. Soon we will be posting some of our sponsors that have already committed their support. Reminder- MAVTI is a registered 501(c)(3) organization.
The 2024 MAVTI Douglas M. McCallister Achievement Award was posthumously awarded to Oakland County Sheriff's Office Detective Bradley Reckling, who was killed in the line of duty on June 22nd, 2024 while conducting surveillance on car thieves in Detroit, Michigan.
Det. Reckling's father Mr. Andrew Reckling accepted the award today at the 2024 MAVTI Fall Training Conference in Dearborn, MI. The award was presented by MSP Ret. D/Sgt. Doug McCallister and MAVTI Director Terri Miller.

Thank you to all that attended the 2024 MAVTI Fall Training Conference in Dearborn, nearly 100 attendees from law enforcement, Insurance SIUs, vehicle manufacturers, and state regulatory agencies attended the 2024 event. Big thanks to all of the great presenters which included GM, Ford, & Stellantis. Congrats to our new MAVTI board members Tim Burchell and Anthony Barbour. The future looks very bright for the Michigan Association of Auto Theft Investigators. See everyone in 2025!
